Norris Cunningham to Present Keynote at 2020 Diversity Job Fair

08.07.2020

Norris Cunningham, a co-founder of Katz Korin Cunningham, will present this year’s keynote address for the 2020 Indy Diversity Job Fair presented by the Indianapolis Bar Association which will be held via Zoom on August 11.

Norris has a passion for seeking equal opportunities for all. “I believe that the ultimate goal of diversity and inclusion initiatives is to create a more just and equitable society. It is impossible to achieve that goal without continuous and ongoing efforts to seek out diverse law students and give them an equal opportunity to compete for positions that have not been widely available to them in the past. The Indy Diversity Job Fair is the best in country at bringing together talented diverse students and potential employers.” says Cunningham.

The Indianapolis Bar Association, organizer of the job fair, shares that through his keynote, “Norris will help us explore our diversity journey in the larger contexts of social justice and racial equity, placing where we are now within those larger contexts currently sweeping the nation. He will discuss the historical path of diversity and inclusion initiatives from affirmative action programs to implicit bias training. He will also discuss the imperative to make the business case for diversity without losing focus on the importance of diversity initiatives in dismantling systemic racism and making progress toward social justice.”

“I am humbled by the opportunity to be of service in this way,” says Cunningham. “We are at a true inflection point in our country’s ongoing struggle for social justice. I want to lend my voice to the millions across our nation, as well as globally, who are protesting, marching and advocating for change.”

Norris is known across the nation for his commitment to diversity and equality, he currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Defense Trial Counsel of Indiana and serves as chair of its Committee on Diversity. He is the Immediate Past Chair of the Indiana State Bar Association Diversity Committee and was recently a guest on the podcast “Zero Excuses” where he spoke extensively about his background, including his career in the military, and how it influenced his focus on social justice. Norris leads Katz Korin Cunningham’s Health Care Practice Group and concentrates his practice in health-care dispute resolution including trial practice, regulatory advocacy, commercial litigation and arbitration. He is a certified arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association and the American Health Lawyers Association.
